Backstory:
Impolite Basket was formed in the bustling city of Austin, Texas in 2012. The band’s three members – lead vocalist and drummer Jonathan “Jono” Lewis, bassist Rachel “Rach” Martinez, and guitarist Mark “Markie” Howell – met while studying at the University of Texas. They bonded over their shared love of music and their desire to break away from the traditional sound of their city’s music scene, and before long, they found themselves jamming together in Howell’s basement.
The band gained a local following with their electrifying live performances and unique sound, leading them to win the city’s prestigious “Battle of the Bands” competition. This victory served as the springboard that launched Impolite Basket into the national spotlight. Now, they are known for their energetic performances, humorous lyrics, and their ability to blend different musical styles into a sound that is uniquely their own.
