Backstory:
Fixed Shape came together in the vibrant heart of New York City in the early 2000s. The band members, lead vocalist and guitarist Sean Black, drummer Pete Gray, bassist Ricky White, and keyboardist Mike Green, met in a community music workshop and bonded over their shared love for alternative rock and electro-pop. The name ‘Fixed Shape’ arose from a philosophical discussion about the nature of music – as an art form that, despite its fluidity, is encapsulated in a fixed form of chords, melodies, and rhythms. The band members felt that this paradox perfectly represented the essence of their music, which is built on the foundation of classic rock yet is always evolving and experimenting with new sounds.
