Long Shopping

Backstory:
Long Shopping is an avant-garde indie rock band hailing from the vibrant streets of Seattle, Washington. The band came together in 2011, with four friends who were just looking for a way to navigate through their quarter-life crises. The members include lead vocalist and guitarist, Liam Murphy, bassist Delilah Smith, drummer Oliver Ross, and keyboardist Hannah Lee; all sharing the same love for music, thrift shopping, and late-night diner talks. The band’s quirky name, Long Shopping, is inspired by the prolonged hours they would spend in thrift shops, seeking obscure vinyl records and vintage clothing items.

Title:
“Checkout Line Lullabies”

Full song lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] In the aisles of the [C] old thrift shop
[G] Where the clock hands [C] seem to stop
[Em] We’d find stories [D] in worn-out tops
[G] And whisper checkout [C] line lullabies

(Chorus)
[G] Checkout line lullabies, [C] breathing in the dust
[Am] Crafting tales out of [C] forgotten rust
[G] Our hearts beat in sync with [C] the cashier’s trust
[Am] Singing checkout line [C] lullabies

(Verse 2)
[G] Underneath the [C] neon glow
[G] We found a rhythm [C] in the ebb and flow
[Em] An old vinyl record [D] played real slow
[G] Echoing our checkout [C] line lullabies

(Chorus)
[G] Checkout line lullabies, [C] lost in the past
[Am] An echo of a love [C] that’s meant to last
[G] We wrote our dreams on [C] receipts so vast
[Am] Singing checkout line [C] lullabies.

Favorite Fan:
The band’s favorite fan is a student named Ethan Jones from Portland, Oregon. Ethan discovered Long Shopping during his first year of college and their music became a solace during his tough transition into adulthood. He describes their music as “an artful blend of nostalgia and reality, woven together with lyrics that feel like a conversation with an old friend.” Ethan has attended each of their concerts in the Pacific Northwest and even traveled to Austin to see them perform at the SXSW music festival. He claims that the band’s love for thrift shopping has also inspired him to start his own vinyl collection.
