Backstory:
Yawning Night is a band that was formed in the bustling music scene of Austin, Texas in 2015. The group started as a trio of friends – frontman Eddie Sheffield, drummer Sam “Bones” Peterson, and bassist Reggie Thompson – who decided to start a band purely for fun while studying at the University of Texas. Their shared love for melodic, introspective music quickly got them noticed on the local scene, and within a year of forming, they were playing regular gigs at popular venues.
When they graduated, the group decided to take a leap of faith and pursue Yawning Night as a full-time endeavor. They added keyboardist Laura Mills to the lineup, whose unique playing style added an extra layer of depth to their sound. The band released their debut album in 2018, which was quickly embraced by fans of their genre and beyond, propelling them into the international music circuit where they continue to grow their fan base.

Title:
“Whispers in the Wind”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Am C
Trapped in the echoes of yesterday,
G D
Dancing with shadows, lost in the fray.
Am C
Our voices, they whisper in the wind,
G D
Are they lost forever, or will they begin?
(Chorus)
C G
Whispers in the wind,
Am F
Can you hear them calling?
C G
Echoes of our sins,
Am F
Can we keep from falling?
(Verse 2)
Am C
Sift through the ruins of our past,
G D
Hoping to find something that lasts.
Am C
Our secrets, they whisper in the wind,
G D
Will they find the light, or remain hidden?
(Chorus)
C G
Whispers in the wind,
Am F
Can you feel them stirring?
C G
Echoes of our wins,
Am F
Are they worth the hurting?
The Band’s Favorite Fan:
Our biggest fan is Sarah O’Connell from Dublin, Ireland. She discovered us at a music festival in 2017 and has been a devoted follower ever since. Not only has she attended every concert we’ve played in Europe, but she also runs a fan blog about us that’s gained quite a following.
Sarah says: “Yawning Night’s music resonates with me in a way that nothing else does. Their lyrics are deep and thought-provoking, and their melodies stay with you long after the song ends. They’re more than just my favorite band – they’re a lifeline in tough times. I’m so thankful for their music.”
