Backstory:
Even Gold is the brainchild of four college roommates – Amelia, Greg, Owen, and Ruth – who attended the University of California, Santa Barbara in the mid-2000s. The friends initially formed the band as a bit of a joke, performing impromptu shows in their shared apartment for friends. However, as their music evolved and their fan base grew beyond their close-knit group, they recognized the potential for something more. After graduation, they moved to Los Angeles to pursue their dream and gained a foothold in the local music scene. They named their band Even Gold, a nod to their shared belief that even the most mundane things in life can be as precious as gold if viewed from the right perspective.
Genre:
Even Gold’s music can best be described as a blend of Indie Pop and Folk Rock. Their sound combines melodic guitar riffs, catchy hooks, and thoughtful, storytelling lyrics, often drawing from their shared experiences and the world around them.
Title: “Ephemeral Dawn”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] Waking up to the sound of the [Em] morning,
[D] Life’s simple pleasures are [C] calling,
[G] We’re chasing shadows in the [Em] dawn,
[D] Knowing soon they’ll be [C] gone.
(Chorus)
[G] In this Ephemeral Dawn, [Em] we’re golden,
[D] Moments swiftly passing, [C] yet frozen,
[G] Even Gold can lose its [Em] shine,
[D] But in this light, everything’s [C] fine.
(Verse 2)
[G] Sipping coffee at the old [Em] treehouse,
[D] The world feels like a lucid [C] dreamhouse,
[G] We’re painting pictures in the [Em] sky,
[D] With every hello and goodbye.
(Chorus)
[G] In this Ephemeral Dawn, [Em] we’re glowing,
[D] Stories yet untold, [C] unknowing,
[G] Even Gold can lose its [Em] shine,
[D] But in this light, we’re doing [C] fine.
