Thorny Lamp

Backstory:
Thorny Lamp was formed in 2015 in the heart of New York City’s underground music scene. The band consists of childhood friends, lead vocalist Lara Hart, drummer Stan “The Hammer” Duncan, bass guitarist Mike “Blink” Jennings, and keyboardist Carl “Keys” Peterson. Their shared passion for music and desire to experiment with unique sounds led them to create Thorny Lamp. Inspired by a curious piece of art they stumbled upon in a Brooklyn thrift store, it was a lamp adorned with thorns, a piece that encapsulated the duality of beauty and pain, much like their music.

Their initial years saw them performing small gigs at local bars and clubs. After being discovered by a veteran music producer in one of their performances, Thorny Lamp got the opportunity to record their first album. Their unique blend of music quickly caught the attention of the audience, making them a sensation in the NYC music scene.

Title:
“Velvet Shadows”

Full Song Lyrics:

(Verse 1)
Em C
Wake up in the velvet shadows,
G D
Where dreams take flight and battles narrow.
Am Em
In the middle of the night’s embrace,
C D
We find our solace, we find our space.

(Chorus)
G D
Velvet shadows, don’t you fade away,
Em C
In your comfort, we wish to stay.
G D
Velvet shadows, in your mystery we delight,
Em C
Guide us through the darkest night.

(Verse 2)
Em C
In your folds, we hide our fears,
G D
Bathing in moonlight, shedding silent tears.
Am Em
Echoes of laughter, whispers of the past,
C D
In your velvet arms, we find our peace at last.

(Repeat Chorus)

(Bridge)
Am Em
In the canvas of the night, painted in starlight,
C D
Your velvet shadows hold our plight.
G D
In the silence, in the dark, under the moon’s arc,
Em C
Velvet shadows leave their mark.

(Repeat Chorus)

Fan’s name: Debbie Williams

“Thorny Lamp’s music is my ultimate solace. I discovered them during a difficult period in my life, and their music, especially “Velvet Shadows,” resonated with me on a deep level. It was like they were speaking directly to my pain, my struggles, and my hopes. The raw emotion in Lara’s voice, the power in Stan’s drums, the passion in Mike’s bass, and the magic in Carl’s keys just… they make me feel seen, understood, and less alone. There’s something beautiful about finding music that feels like it understands you – Thorny Lamp is that band for me.”
