Backstory:
Moist Unit was born under the neon lights of Melbourne’s underground music scene in 2013. Originally a trio, consisting of childhood friends, Jayden “Jay” Johnson on vocals, Oliver “Ollie” Samson on the guitar, and Ethan “E” Miller on the drums, they spent their early years playing in the back rooms of grungy bars. Their signature sound, a high-octane mix of raw energy and poetic lyrics, quickly caught the attention of the local indie community. In 2016, the band expanded when they recruited Bella “Bel” Turner, a classically trained pianist who added a new level of depth to their sound.
Genre:
Alternative Rock with a touch of Post-Punk Revival
Title:
“Drenched in Neon”
Full Song Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] Torn up jeans and [Bm] whiskey dreams,
[C] Underneath the [D] city’s gleaming sheen,
[G] We found a world that [Bm] no one’s seen,
[C] Drenched in neon, [D] lost in between.
(Chorus)
[G] Oh, we’re just a [Bm] moist unit,
[C] Trying to make it [D] in this concrete conduit,
[G] Amidst the noise and [Bm] the grit,
[C] We found our rhythm, [D] we found our hit.
(Verse 2)
[G] Echoes of laughter, [Bm] stories untold,
[C] Strumming chords, [D] breaking the mold,
[G] Life in the underbelly, [Bm] bold and cold,
[C] In this city, [D] our tales unfold.
(Chorus)
[G] Yes, we’re just a [Bm] moist unit,
[C] Lost in sounds and [D] starlit sonnet,
[G] Amidst the chaos and [Bm] the circuit,
[C] We found our music, [D] we found our spirit.
Favorite Fan Testimonial:
“Ever since I first heard Moist Unit’s raw and evocative sound, I was hooked. Their songs are like an urban poetry, encapsulating the gritty reality of city life but sprinkled with traces of hope and resilience. It’s like they’ve taken the pulse of our generation and transformed it into music. Not to mention, their live performances are electrifying! They don’t just play music, they tell stories and connect with every single person in the crowd. I’ve been to every gig they’ve played in Melbourne. My name is Max and I am proudly their biggest fan!”
