Great name for a band
Profuse Instance
The story
Profuse Instance formed in the heart of Sheffield, England, when four university students bonded over a shared obsession with experimental soundscapes and late-night philosophy debates. Lead vocalist and lyricist Mira Langley met guitarist/producer Theo Grant in a cramped record store corner, both reaching for the same rare Brian Eno vinyl. Drummer Ash Patel and bassist Sam Riley joined soon after, bringing their love for jazz improvisation and post-punk rhythms.
The band started gigging in local underground venues, quickly gaining a reputation for their unpredictable live shows, where no two renditions of a song were ever the same. Their name, Profuse Instance, reflects their ethos: moments of intense creativity and emotion, captured in time and spilled into their music. Their sound blurs the lines between electronic, indie rock, and ambient styles, always pushing boundaries.

Biggest fan
Our favorite fan is Jasmin Rowe, a graphic designer from Bristol who’s followed Profuse Instance since their very first EP. Jasmin says, “Profuse Instance changed how I listen to music. Their shows are like stepping into someone else’s dream—you never know where you’ll end up. I once traveled across three cities in a week just to catch their gigs. It’s worth every mile to hear ‘Fractals in the Rain’ live; the energy and emotion are unreal.” The band loves Jasmin’s creative spirit—she’s even designed unofficial posters that became crowd favorites.
