Backstory:
Bossy Reading was born out of a shared love for literature and music in the heart of the bustling, bohemian district of Austin, Texas. It all started when four friends – all literature enthusiasts and part-time musicians – decided to combine their passion for words and melodies. They found their creative drive in a cozy basement, amidst old books, worn-out guitars, and endless cups of spicy chai. As they experimented with sounds and stories, their unique musical style started to take shape. Their music is a reflection of the nostalgia they feel for the golden era of literature, with a contemporary touch that gives it a refreshing edge.
Genre:
Their music can be classified as Indie Folk with a splash of Alternative Rock.
Title:
“Shakespeare in Love”
Full song lyrics:
(Verse 1)
[G] She’s got a heart full of sonnets and [D] tales
[C] Wrapped up in ink and [G] paper sails
[G] She’s been to places that [D] I’ve never been
[C] Caught up in lines of a [G] Shakespearean dream.
(Chorus)
[C] She’s my Shakespeare in [G] Love,
[D] Dancing with words [G] under the sky above
[C] Quill in her hand and [G] sonnets on her lips
[D] She’s my Shakespeare in [G] Love, my literary eclipse.
(Verse 2)
[G] A tragic hero or a [D] comic jest
[C] In her stories, she’s [G] always the best
[G] She pens down tales of [D] love so sweet
[C] And the villains of her [G] stories, she never does meet.
(Chorus)
[C] She’s my Shakespeare in [G] Love,
[D] Writing our story [G] under the stars above
[C] With her, I’m a king, [G] in her words I dive,
[D] She’s my Shakespeare in [G] Love, making me feel alive.

“I’m Melinda from New York, and I’ve been following Bossy Reading ever since their debut. I was hooked the first time I heard ‘Shakespeare in Love’. Their music resonates with me on a personal level because, like them, I’m a literature buff. Their unique blend of indie folk and alternative rock, combined with their literary-themed lyrics, creates a captivating experience that is both unique and nostalgic. They’ve become my favorite band because they make me feel seen and understood, and they’ve given me a soundtrack for my love of books and stories.”
