Backstory:
Cooked Hair is an eccentric band born out of the bustling, artsy city of Portland, Oregon. Originally, it was just a duo consisting of childhood friends, Jake Hamilton – a self-taught pianist and Ryan Gates – a passionate guitarist. They honed their craft playing in local dives and at open mic nights. Their musical connection was clear as they spontaneously composed unique tunes that left audiences both bewildered and captivated. It wasn’t until Maggie, a talented violinist and a fan, joined them that the current sound of Cooked Hair truly emerged. Their unusual name, Cooked Hair, came about as the result of a hilarious accident involving a camping stove, some hair, and Jake’s lack of culinary skills.
Genre:
Cooked Hair falls into the genre of Indie Folk with flashes of Electric Punk, creating a kaleidoscopic fusion of sound that is both rustic and electrifying.
Title:
Their popular song is named “Lighthouse Shadow”.
Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Am Em
In the quiet foggy morning,
G D
Beneath the lighthouse shadow, I stand.
Am Em
Whispers of the ocean,
G D
Crafting tales in the sand.
(Chorus)
C Em
I am lost, I am found,
G D
In the lighthouse shadow, I resound.
C Em
Adrift in the sea, or safe on the ground,
G D
In the lighthouse shadow, I am bound.
(Verse 2)
Am Em
Dawn breaks, the light spins,
G D
Casting patterns of time and space.
Am Em
In the lighthouse shadow,
G D
I find my place.
(Chorus)
C Em
I am lost, I am found,
G D
In the lighthouse shadow, I resound.
C Em
Caught in the storm, or where peace is found,
G D
In the lighthouse shadow, I am bound.
