Backstory:
Formed in the bustling music scene of Austin, Texas in 2012, Phony Move is an ensemble that started as a fun side project among four childhood friends. The quartet, composed of lead singer and guitarist, Calvin “Cal” Erin, bassist, Leo “Roar” Parker, drummer, Jessie “Boom” McConnell, and keyboardist, Sam “Keys” Ellison, spent their high school years jamming in Cal’s garage. Their bond strengthened over the years, and they decided to make a move, thus Phony Move was born. With a sound that is distinctly their own, the band’s music reflects their shared experiences, dreams, and trials.
Genre:
Phony Move’s music falls mostly into Indie Rock with a touch of Psychedelic Pop. Their sound features heavy guitar riffs, pulsating drum beats, and haunting keyboard lines, which all combined give them a unique edge.
Title:
“Astray in the Milky Way”
Full song lyrics:
(Verse)
[G] A thousand miles away, [D] from where we used to play,
[Emin] Found myself astray, [C] Lost in the Milky Way.
[G] Looked at the stars above, [D] Searching for our love,
[Emin] In the cosmic dove, [C] Couldn’t find you, my beloved.
(Chorus)
[D] Astray in the Milky Way, [C] Lost and found in the same day,
[G] The stars, they point your way, [D] But without you, I’m just astray.
[D] Astray in the Milky Way, [C] In the cosmic ballet,
[G] I’ll keep searching, come what may, [D] ‘Til I find you, I’m just astray.
(Verse)
[G] Tracing constellations, [D] Across the space stations,
[Emin] Endless conversations, [C] And stardust contemplations.
[G] Amidst the nebulae, [D] Where we used to lay,
[Emin] Lost in the Milky Way, [C] I’ll find you someday.
