Serpentine Knee

Backstory:

Serpentine Knee was pieced together in the heart of New Orleans in 2013, when a blues guitarist and a jazz drummer happened to share a late-night cab. The guitarist, a man known only as “Snakebite,” had been playing in small, smoky bars for years. The drummer, a woman named “Knee-Socks,” was a staple in the local jazz scene. They found a shared love for the raw emotion of music and a desire to combine their styles into something wholly unique. After recruiting a sultry-voiced singer from a local open mic night and a classically trained violinist from the city orchestra, Serpentine Knee was born.

Their music stirred the local scene’s quiet undercurrents, blending the sorrowful lament of the blues with the energetic pulse of jazz, grounded by a hint of classical elegance. As they played in dive bars, street corners, and eventually music festivals, their distinctive sound resonated with many, leading to a dedicated fan base that craved their unique fusion.

Tragic Folk

Backstory:
Tragic Folk was birthed out of the unlikely partnership of two remarkably different souls – Cliff, the traditional folk artist from the Appalachian Mountains, and Tina, the angsty poet from New York. The two met at a poetry slam in Nashville where Cliff was playing background mandolin for a storytelling group. Tina was on stage, delivering a poem about heartbreak and loss, an emotion so raw, it resonated with Cliff. He was captivated by her voice and her words, and after the event, he approached her with an idea. What if they combined their crafts? The poetry of pain with the soulful sound of folk? They did and thus, Tragic Folk was born.
