Formal Proposal

Backstory:
Formal Proposal was formed in the heart of California in 2011. It all started when lead vocalist and guitarist, Alex Leighton, and drummer, Sam Garcia, met at a local open mic night. Both were performing solo acts, but by the end of the night, they found a deep musical connection. They bonded over their shared love of classic rock bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin. They decided to form their own band and give it a unique twist. Later, they were joined by bassist, Mia Thompson and keyboardist, Ryan Harris, who brought a new element to their sound, making it even more diverse and explorative.

Title:
“Masquerade of Love”

Full Song Lyrics:

Verse 1 (Cmaj7, G, D, Em7)
Wandering through the masquerade of love,
Lost in the crowd, the lights are bright above.
Searching for something that seems so hard to find,
An authentic heart, a soul that’s kind.

Chorus (F, G, Cmaj7, D)
Masquerade of love, are you real or just pretend?
Masquerade of love, will my heart ever mend?
Lost in a sea of faces, but all I see is you,
Masquerade of love, do you see me too?

Verse 2 (Cmaj7, G, D, Em7)
Caught in the magic, the music starts to play,
Dancing in the moonlight, the doubts just fade away.
Your eyes hold a promise, a story yet untold,
Masquerade of love, let the night unfold.

Chorus (F, G, Cmaj7, D)
Masquerade of love, are you real or just a dream?
Masquerade of love, things are not what they seem.
Caught in your allure, under the star-strewn sky,
Masquerade of love, it’s in your eyes I fly.

Band’s Favorite Fan:
Our favorite fan is Jenny Thompson. Jenny has been with us since our first gig at a small bar in California. She embodies what Formal Proposal is about – authenticity, passion for music, and a deep connection with the band’s soulful lyrics. Jenny shares, “Formal Proposal’s music always hits home with me. It’s not just the melody; it’s the lyrics, the raw emotion, and the band’s passion that get me. Their song, “Masquerade of Love” is my favorite. It speaks volumes about the complexities and mystique of love. Every time I listen to it, I feel a deep connection. It’s as if they’ve penned my feelings into a song. Formal Proposal is more than just a band to me, it’s a lifeline.”
