Lead singer, James “Axe” Fitzgerald, and drummer, Tommy “Chisel” McCarthy, first met in a rustic woodworking shop, bonding over their shared love for melodies and mahogany. It wasn’t long before the pair decided to fuse their two passions, crafting unique instruments from salvaged wood and creating a signature sound that was as raw and original as their creations. Joined later by bassist, Lisa “Sawdust” Johnson and guitarist, Kevin “Varnish” Smith, Scented Carpenter became the voice of Seattle’s artsy underground, singing the unheard stories of the city’s vibrant community of craftsmen.
