Backstory
Formed in the bustling music scene of Austin, Texas, in 2006, Limp Nut quickly gained a local following for their infectious energy and unapologetic candor. The band’s core members, lead vocalist Pete “Peanut” Davis and drummer Tim “Walnut” Wilson, met at a dive bar’s open mic night and found a shared interest in creating music that resonated with life’s absurdities and everyday quirkiness. Joined later by bassist Sarah “Chestnut” Chen and lead guitarist Rick “Hazelnut” Harris, Limp Nut was officially born. All four members shared a love for the nut industry, having grown up in families involved in various aspects of it, from farming to retailing. This passion, coupled with their musical talent, resulted in a unique sound that quickly captivated audiences.

Title
“Shell of a Time”
Full Song Lyrics (with chord progression)
(Verse 1) [C] [G] [Am] [E]
[C] Underneath the pecan trees, [G] in the melody of the breeze,
[Am] We found our rhythm, we found our rhyme, [E] We were having a shell of a time.
[C] Lost in the music under the moon, [G] Strumming our dreams into tune,
[Am] We danced on the edge, we walked the line, [E] Oh, it was a shell of a time.
(Chorus) [F] [C] [G] [C]
[F] We were young, we were wild, [C] Free as an almond, nutty and beguiled,
[G] Life was a song, life was a chime, [C] And oh, it was a shell of a time.
(Verse 2) [C] [G] [Am] [E]
[C] We’d play until the break of dawn, [G] Our voices echoing in the early morn,
[Am] We were bold, we were in our prime, [E] Leaving a shell of a time.
(Chorus) [F] [C] [G] [C]
[F] With hearts on fire, beneath the starlit sky, [C] To the rhythm of the night, we’d comply,
[G] Love was the rhythm, love was the rhyme, [C] And oh, it was a shell of a time.
(Outro) [C] [G] [Am] [E]
[C] So here’s to those who remember when, [G] To the memories penned in our den,
[Am] To the melodies that climb, [E] Back to that shell of a time.
Band’s Favorite Fan
Our favorite fan is Madeline “Macadamia” Miller. A devoted follower since our first performance, she comes to every show, rain or shine, and even dedicated a local radio hour to our music. Her testimonial: “Limp Nut is my favorite band because they make music that feels real. It’s raw, it’s nuts, and it’s incredibly lively. Listening to them live is like being part of an intimate conversation, one that’s filled with laughter, shared stories, and a sense of community. Their song ‘Shell of a Time’ is the soundtrack of my life – an anthem of my youth. They’re not just a band to me, they’re family.”
